Coast Guard
The Coast Guard protects Pavia’s international coastal borders from all threats as the lead civil maritime security authority.
Because most of Pavia’s borders are coastal, there is a high risk of illegal activity occurring at the border or entering Pavia by water. To protect all Pavians from these threats, the Pavian Government established the Coast Guard to enforce the integrity of Pavia’s maritime boundaries and safeguard our national security.
What the Coast Guard does
The Coast Guard has a broad responsibility to protect Pavia against a wide range of maritime security threats. These include:
- illegal activity in Pavian water
- prohibited imports and exports
- illegal maritime arrivals
- piracy, robbery or violence at sea.
How the Coast Guard protects Pavians
The Coast Guard maintains a continuous watch over Pavia’s maritime jurisdiction. It utilises unique systems to detect, risk assess and track vessels operating in or approaching Pavia’s maritime zones.
We adopt an intelligence-led, risk-based approach to plan and undertake both strategic maritime surveillance and targeted operations. Our maritime operations are conducted by surface assets which are owned by the Coast Guard.
The Crown Prince has also given the Coast Guard wide powers to keep Pavians safe. These include:
- demolishing squatters’ structures
- detaining and deporting criminals
- stopping and inspecting any foreign ship
- establishing emergency prohibited zones to exclude foreign ships
- pursuing and capturing criminals outside Pavia.
